As part of the Bestiary project I am writing a few pieces of music inspired by some of the species described in that cosmic A-Z. These will be released from within my existing music project - Interstellar Galleon - on Bandcamp. The tracks will be available to download for free from there and I will reference them here for your convenience as they are released.

I created the header font that I'm using here on this page for this project and if you would like it, you can grab it for free from the Fontstruct project site. Note that I have only created the capital letters, not the lowercase, nor are there any numbers or special characters!

Molecular transmissions travelling through the frozen void of the cosmos are decoded using the writings of Antiquas and then reassembled using a Commodore 64, an Acorn Electron and a mix of synths and other strange electronics.

Deepspace Goblinoid

The first track is Deepspace Goblinoid and features on its cover a piece of artwork that will be in the Bestiary book.

The lyrics are direct quotations from that book; specifically from the entries pertaining to the Genomos peoples who we learn dwell beneath the icy mountains on Mars.

Like a lot of my music, the track was created with sounds from a variety of old computers like the Acorn Electron and the Commodore 64, as well as an ever-evolving home-made rig comprising of various tone generators, homemade fuzz effects, some phaser and an Arduino-based remake of the Mini Pops drum machines of the 1960s and early 70s. I have modified an old Yamaha Portasound PSS-130 for some lead parts and even part of the drum and bass. It sounds great through the phased-fuzz effects.
